Pimlico 9-9-23 Contractor: Down to Earth dtelandscape.com
Hello Mitch,
Here is what I saw Saturday 9-9-23 golfing at Pimlico.
Take note of the weeds at the base of the posts in the concrete pad.
This mess of a landscape planting area has been sitting here like this for months. Will it be renovated soon?
The sod on the first tee of Belmont is visible and was recently put down. Why so late? The growing season is just about over. This is a repeat of what happened a year ago at Mira Mesa. Why can't we learn from prior mistakes?
Pimlico has historically been one of the worst "Conditioned" courses in the villages. This mess on the first tee shows that things have not changed.
The course overall shows a lack of fertilization during the growing season, actually all year long.
The traps are a horrible mess. I am not sure if the traps were groomed on Friday. There was rain on Friday. The contract calls for traps to be groomed after weather events. Down to Earth has ignored that portion of the contract.
The traps are to be edged at least monthly. The traps are way overdue for edging.
The proper cup cutting is still an issue.
Is this a lack of training issue? Or a I don't care issue? Or an unqualified Superintendent issue? Or a lack of District oversight issue?
Maybe all of the above.
Where is the Superintendent ? Part of their job is to follow up on their workers.
Needs edging
Well it looks like more of the same.
Clearly needs grooming to remove the neighbors dog foot prints.
There are a number of weeds in the greens. This is Goose Grass.
It is Saturday and Down to Earth did get the greens mower out of the shed.
The mowing job was not complete. It was just a rush job. The fringe was not mowed. The outside edges of the green were not mowed.
Lots of Goose grass just off of the tee box
This weed is called Japanese Poinsettia.
Trying to help a fellow golfer find his ball. You have to wonder if there is even a Superintendent assigned to oversee the maintenance of this golf course.
Lots of weeds on the tee box.
Lots of weeds in the landscaping.
If you look at the green you see lines cut into the surface.
This is the ball drop.
Where is the sign?
We are running out of time so lets just not mow that part of the green.
Sand Hill Cranes are causing damage to the greens. If Down to Earth sprayed for bugs like they are supposed to we might not have this damage.
The contract states that standing water in a trap is to be pumped out immediately.
It looks like Down to Earth is ignoring the contract again.
Now this landscape area next to the ninth tee box has a volunteer Southern Live Oak tree growing. The size of the Volunteer tree tells you that it has been several years since Down to Earth has weeded the bed.
This same landscape bed is loaded with the plant pictured below. It is called Mexican Petunia. I don't think this bed was planted with Mexican Petunias as I have not seen them anywhere else. They maybe are a volunteer plant that has just taken over. Clearly Down to Earth has not worked this bed in years.
