Pelican 6-12-23

Pelican 6-12-23      Contractor: ASG Solutions, LLC   www.asgsolutions.us

Hello Mitch,

Here is what I saw golfing at Pelican on Monday 6-12-23.

The bacteria covered water cooler isn't the first time for ASG Solutions.  You can see the dirt and bacteria covered spicket.  It is a health department violation.

The contractor ASG Solutions has blocked my emails.  I guess they don't care.

When I finished my billiards match Monday night at Allamanda Recreation Center, I walked back into the kitchen area.  There were six water coolers on the counter and one spicket looked like the picture below.  The gentleman working the rec center brought another cooler into the kitchen to clean and he showed me how he cleaned it.

So there are several issues at this rec center and I have no idea if this is typical.  The gentleman said this was his 14th year doing this.

There was no dedicated wash sink large enough to put the cooler in.
There was no sanitizer available or being used to sanitize the coolers.
There was no spicket brush for cleaning the inside of the spicket.
Work counters have not been sanitized.  Workers can't sanitize their hands.
The ice scoop was not stored in a sanitized container.  It was setting on top of the refrigerator located next to the ice machine.  The top of the refrigerator was extremely dirty.

I am guessing that ASG has many of these same issues.

I would recommend not drinking the water at Pickleball or on the golf course.

All of these pictures are available on my Blog in way better detail.  The pixel count is over 20 larger per picture.  The blog is a Google Blog.  The address is executivegolfmaintenance.blogspot.com.

Hole 1

Lots of weeds in the tee boxes.  This weed is called Prostrate Sandmat.  It is a little hard to see in this picture as it grows very low to the ground.  There is a better picture of it on the 7th hole below.

The grass is growing.  This grass could use some fertilizer along with some weed killer.  They also need to blow the leaves off the tee box.

Here is a new sod patch that is alive and doing well.

None of the bunkers were groomed

The greens had been aeriated.  One of the tines was out of adjustment.  The tine dragged and caused the deeper line in the green.  I have to thank the retired golf course superintendent that I was playing with for explaining what happened here.

Not very healthy looking.  There is a damaged spot.  The larger area needs water and fertilizer.

Hole 2

There is lots of what you see all over the golf course.  Piles of cut grass.  The contract prohibits leaving cut grass lay on the ground like what you see.

The contract calls for Tees, Collars and Approaches to be mowed 2 or 3 times a week.  I would say that ASG has violated this provision in the contract as well to end up with this much cut grass on the ground.

As pretty as the flower is it still would be considered a weed on the golf course.
This weed is called Paraguayan Purslane.

It looks like ASG has fallen behind on their edging program.

This weed is all over the tee boxes.  This weed is called Prostrate Sandmat.

This picture shows a weed called goose grass.  The turf is in rough shape in by the marker.  It is trying to grow in.  More fertilizer would help that process along.

Most golf courses have three cuts of grass.  Green, fringe and collar.  Why don't you require that?

Here you see lots of weeds where the fringe should be and some damage.

A lot of the greens have damage.

Hole 3

This is not the cooler pictured above - you will see it later.  This one is dirty also.

Lots of weeds

They just replaced the green on the 6th hole.  This one may be next.  Who is paying for the green replacements?  Hopefully not the residents.

Hole 4

New sod.  It is located on the side of a tee box which means that it can be watered.  Why aren't they watering it?

The tee box is not healthy looking.

Damaged spots on the green

They are not knitting the edges together properly.  The edges dry and die back.

It doesn't look like what you see on TV.

Hole 5

This green has several patches.

Hole 6

This weed is all over the tee box and golf course.

Here is the new green.  The fringe is a little rough

Hole 7

Sign pole.

This weed is called Prostrate Sandmat.

Nut grass in the middle of the tee.  Twice as tall as a golf ball.  I am not sure how it grows so tall when you are mowing the tee 2 or 3 time a week.

Damage on the green.  Looks like the green needs fertilizer.

Hole 8

I see water here a lot.

Rough tee box

The tee box is home to many different types of weeds.

This may be Vasey Grass

Marsh Pennywort

Hole 9

That is it from Pelican.
