Hello Mitch,

Here is what I saw Monday 6-19-23 at El Diablo.

Hole 1

Weeds on my walk to the first tee.

Virginia Creeper

Tee Box was not cleaned off.  Pine needles everywhere.

A rough looking area on the first tee.

Forward tee in rough shape.

Areas of green that the grass is dying back.

Hole 2

Edging cart paths has fallen behind schedule.

Lots of weeds.
Short on fertilizer.

Looks like nut grass to me.  PlantNet was not sure which variety of sedge or nutgrass it is.

Over two months into the growing season and the tee box still looks like a mess.

Lots of Prostrate Sandmat, a common and plentiful weed on the golf courses in the villages.

Bunkers are groomed nicely.

Grass around the edges needs fertilizer.

This goose grass in the green has been sprayed and is dying.

If you don't grow grass you don't have to mow it.  A good way to save money.

Hole 3

This tee box was not cleaned off.

Weeds on the tee.

Out in front of the tee box I ran into this sedge going to seed.  That is my six iron being used for reference.  Now this area is to be mowed 2 to 3 times a week.  This area has not been mowed in a couple of weeks.  You can starve the grass by not fertilizing it but the weeds still find a way to grow.

Brown Flatsedge

Middle tee box not being used today looks a mess.

Cute little yellow flowers just in front of the front bunker.

Yellow Wood Sorrel

Dying grass in the green.

Hole 4

Mr. Mole tracks in the top of the picture.
More grass clipping piles that should have been cleaned off.

Hole 5

Nice patch of weeds in the tee box.

Brazilian Calla-Lily

Hole 6

The grass has died back on this area of the green

Hole 7

This spot is on the green.  I saw a lot of this at Hawkes Bay the other day.  I was told that this area of grass has mutated and the mutated grass cannot tolerate being mowed this tight so it is acting like it has been scalped.  The white spots are where it has been scalped.  This is from a retired regional golf course superintendent that I was playing golf with today.

Hole 8

The sand is not needed if you "knit" the edges together properly.

Hole 9

The next five pictures show mature weeds near the 9th green.

PlantNet could not identify.

Creeping Indigo

Redflower Ragleaf

Virginia Creeper

That is it from El Diablo.
