Tarpon Boil 10-9-23
Tarpon Boil 10-9-23 Contractor: Brightview Golf Maintenance, Inc. Brightview.com
Here is what I saw Monday 10-9-23 at Tarpon Boil.
Bridgeview provides a Master Production Calendar
Under Tee Boxes
Various Weed Control products were to be applied in 4 of the last 6 weeks.
6 different products were to be applied.
2 of which were applied twice.
Looking at all of the weeds in the tee boxes, do you think they provided any of these services listed above?
Their edging is way overdue.
The traps have not been groomed in a long time.
Lots of areas like this ZERO traffic area that Bridgeview is not doing the correct things to grow grass. Dr. Todd Bunnell is Bridgeview's Ph.D VP, Agronomy. The Bridgeview bid proposal states that Todd visits The Villages quarterly. Todd needs to teach a class "Growing Grass 101" to his Superintendents.
The greens are Sick. Has anyone called a Doctor ? How about Dr. Todd Bunnell. He could diagnosis the problem and provide a step by step action plan for his Superintendent to follow. Healthy greens could be in our future.
There is a lot of Sickness on the first green.
Another weedy tee box.
It looks like this area has been cleared for sodding. It is a ZERO traffic area.
It is good that they are killing weeds.
However, it looks like they used the wrong product. They have killed a lot of grass along with the weeds. I have seen the Goose Grass killed without taking out this much extra grass. Normally the dead spot is just the area that the weed itself occupied.
You wonder if the Superintendent knows what they are doing.
More Sick greens
This shows a lack of training and supervision.
They do a good job of growing things in the cracks.
Here is some new sod installed in a ZERO traffic area on the resident side of the cart path. That grass is not going to fill in the dead area.
They are killing the Goose grass off the greens. They need to kill it on the greens.
I wonder if Dr. Bunnell could teach a class in cutting cups.
Set too high and scalped by the mower. If they weren't mowing in the dark they could see the high plugs and mow around them.
Weedy tee box
Here is a landscape area that they sprayed weeds. Now they need to go back in and clean it up.
The grass has failed here. When the grass dies, the edge of the trap falls apart. The grass growing 101 class should help this in the future.
Another sick green.
Scalped.
Other similar areas like this have green & white stakes set to keep vehicles out of the ground under repair.
The cart path is way to the left in this picture. This area is between tee boxes so that every golfer gets to see it. It is also a ZERO traffic area.
The District pays Bridgeview every month to grow grass. And this is the product of their efforts.
Another Sick green
Just showing the weeds in the green.
Here is a look back at the sink hole.
My plant identifier failed me on this one. This weed will just have to remain nameless.
This weed is called "Climbing Hempvine".
Both of these weeds are located next to the 9th tee box.
Baby Goose Grasses in the green.
