Amberwood 10-23-23       Contractor: Brightview Golf Maintenance, Inc.     Brightview.com

Hello Mitch,

Here is what I saw golfing at Amberwood Monday 10-23-23.

Lots of weeds everywhere.  Very poorly conditioned course for just coming out of the growing season.  The course is not ready to go into the winter season.

Why can't Dalton and Jack drive these courses weekly and hold the contractors accountable for doing what they are being paid to do ?

Lots of weeds around the starter shack area.  Lots of debris built up and over the cement edges all around the starter shack area and cart parking.  It has not been cleaned up for months.  You must have missed it on your quarterly review in August.

Short people are going to be able to reach the bottom of the sand bin to fill their sand bottles.

The ambassadors just don't stop by to say hi and ask if you need anything anymore.  You often see them sitting over under a tree for long periods of time.

This weed is called Tropical Whiteweed and can be viewed in the starter shack area.  It is blooming now, but not very pretty.

Edging has fallen behind, just like some of the other courses they maintain like Tarpon Boil, Redfish Run and Bonita Pass.

Lots of weeds in the greens.  Down to Earth is doing a way better job of controlling the weeds in the greens than these guys.

According to the Master Production Calendar weeds were sprayed 5 different weeks in July and August.  So why are there any weeds at all on these greens ?

Here you see a lot of Goose Grass (weed) along the edge of the green.  Their putting fringe is not very well defined.

Grass runner edging is way overdue.

More weeds in the green.

This poorly placed cup plug is set too high and will be scalped soon.

A lot of old plugs are visible meaning the green in not growing fast enough to heal itself.  That is a lack of fertilizer being applied.

Wow, I just looked at their Master Production Calendar for green fertilization.

Brightview shows fertilizers being applied ever week of the year.  They have 13 different products being applied a various points.

Week 10/17     4 different products
Week 10/10     5 different products
Week 10/3       7 different products
Week 9/25       7 different products
Week 9/18       4 different products
Week 9/11       5 different products
Week 9/4         5 different products

Clearly this is not happening.

The AAC Committee voted to approve this contract.  Can they vote to terminate the contract ?

They are not raking the sand back up the slops.

More weeds

My plant app wants to call this weed Romerillo.  This weed is located next to a bench.

The variety of weeds on The Villages golf courses is outstanding.

Different bench.

It has been a while since someone has cleaned up around this bench.

The 8th tee box and the whole area is covered in dollar weeds.

Too low.  It needs to be cut out and raised to the correct level.  Why hasn't the Superintendent had this repaired ?

This is next to the 9th green.  Besides looking horrible, it does not meet the specifications for bank maintenance.  It is over 3 feet tall.  It is a trip hazard for a golfer to try to walk through it to get his ball.

That is it from Amberwood.
