Hawkes Bay 6-15-23       Contractor: Down to Earth     dtelandscape.com

Hello Mitch,

The neighborhood golf group has taken me back to Hawkes Bay Thursday 6-15-23 after only 5 days.  Not much has changed in five days.  One change is the fertilizer fairway strips have disappeared.

Edging is an issue.

The bunkers were groomed.  Some leaves in the traps.

Leaves being blown off greens and tee boxes, but not being picked up.

There is an equipment issue with the mower used on the tee box.

Just not healthy looking even after all of the rain.

Not sure what is going on here.

An up close look at a couple of patches from the picture above.  Some of the grass in these patches looks like the grass is dying.

The contract states that the contractors are to use a vacuum to remove debris like this.  You told me you didn't think vacuums are very effective.  However, I have neighbors who remember the contractors using the vacuums and they said they worked.  The contract states the contractor can use a mulching mower as an alternative.  I don't think the contractors own any mulching mowers.  If they do they are not using them.

In any case, page 4 of the contract, point 7.5.2 states in part "The determination of satisfactory performance will be based upon the satisfactory appearance of the grounds, ".

Another tee box with mower issues.
