Chula Vista 6-8-23       Contractor: Down to Earth     dtelandscape.com

Hello Mitch,

This is what I saw golfing Thursday 6-8-23 at Chula Vista.

How much money did the AAC give you a few years ago to renovate the tee boxes at Chula Vista?  Based on the conditions of the tee boxes today that money was all wasted.  Down to Earth has been the contractor doing the maintenance.  The lack of proper maintenance has ruined the tee boxes.  Nobody is holding Down to Earth accountable for their contractual obligations.

Hole 1

Right next to the starter shack is a ton of weeds in the landscaping.

Mole tunnels next to the first tee box

All the tee boxes have weeds and are in very bad shape especially considering grass has been growing for two months.

Those dollar weeds are special.

Lots of weeds just off of the green

Not a very pretty green.

Lots of goose grass weeds in the green and all over the course.

Lots of issues with cutting cups

This is a very unhealthy area on the green.  It looks like the grass is dying to me.  There are a number of areas on like this on a number of greens.

Hole 2

Rough tee box

This is a large area between holes 2 and 9.  The land is all torn up.  I have no idea what is going on here.

This is an area out in front of the green.  It does not get much traffic, just us walkers.  No grass.  Nutrient starved.

If you don't feed it......you don't have to mow it.        That is how you money in the contract business.

Bunkers were not groomed today.  This bunker only has one rake while others have three.  The turf around the bunker is nutrient starved.

This is an old cup.  It is a hole.  Your ball will jump going across it.

A nice shot of a weed called lemon leaf located in the green.

Another unhealthy area on the green

Hole 3

This tee box looks the best of all, but it still has a lot of healing to do.

Lots of baby oak trees sprouting in the pine straw landscape

I did take a picture where they put new sod down in an area like this.  I guess this mess isn't bad enough yet.

A lovely weed growing in the bunker.  It is called American Burnweed or Erechtites Hieraciifolius.

Something else is going to seed next to it.  The mowers stay back a little and generally they don't weed wack the edges.

Lemon Leaf is popular in the greens

Hole 4

Interesting.....the forth hole had two tee boxes with sand bottles.  One of the two tee boxes was not being used today, but they did not move the sand bottle.

The mole did not read the sign.

You walk down a slope to the green.  There are a lot of exposed tree roots which I think would be a trip hazard.

The green is in rough shape.

Hole 5

Lots of weeds in the tee box

Bunkers have not been edged in too long a time.

This green has a number of damaged spots and many other areas that are healing.

Hole 6

A lot of damage on the back side of the bunker

Hole 7

This green is bad shape

Hole 8

Just off of the tee box they sprayed and killed all of grass and weeds growing in the landscape.  Good Job !  Why not the rest of the course?

Lots of goose grass in the greens

Hole 9

They are blowing the leaves off of the tee box and not picking them up.

Damage on the green

That is it from Chula Vista.
