Chula Vista 6-24-23       Contractor: Down to Earth     dtelandscape.com

Hello Mitch,

Here is what I saw playing golf at Chula Vista on Saturday 6-24-23.

Hole 1

It looked like a lot of weeds had been sprayed in the landscape near the starter shack.

This is goose grass on the tee box that hasn't been mowed in a week.  There is goose grass everywhere on this course.  You will see some has been sprayed.  All of the tee boxes have not been mowed in too long a time.  The tee boxes are in need of more fertilizer along with weed killer.

The contract states that any standing water in the bunkers needs to be pumped out immediately.  I don't think any of the contractors have ever pumper out a bunker after a rain.  Do they even have pumps to do this?  Bunkers are to be groomed immediately after a weather event and this does not happen either.

The greens overall are pretty weed free, however here you see some goose grass.

The cutting of cups is horrible.

Hole 2

This is Prostrate Sandmat and there is a lot of it around.

This goose grass has been sprayed and is dying.

Only one rake in this bunker.  Not enough, it will slow play down.

Hole 3

Grass runners.

Damaged bunder edge

Hole 4

Lots of weeds in the landscape area.

Here they did not mow to the left side of the picture about 20 feet.  You can see the little sand piles from either ants or worms.

It is Saturday and they mowed.......WOW

They are not repairing ball marks as required.

Hole 5

Rough tee box.  They would all be grown back in by now if they had the fertilizer they needed.

Dog tracks in the sand.

A number of the greens still have damaged areas that are still trying to heal.

Hole 6
.
This weed is called Brazilian Calla-Lily.

Where is the fertilizer?  This area at the back of the tee box would grow in if you feed it.

Edging ???  Debris cleanup ???

This lush growth is Common Crabgrass located just off of the right side of the green.

The brown patches are goose grass that has been sprayed just off of the green.  The dark green patches under the golfers feet is goose grass that they did not spray.  So you see the spray works great.  You should also note that they waited way too long before spraying.  They also missed the crab grass noted above.  The contract requires controlling weeds property line to property line.

I took another picture of the grab grass to show you that it is going to seed.  Millions of seeds that will all germinate unless they put a pre-emergent weed control down to prevent germination.  However, they did not use the pre-emergent in this area and that is why there is a large area of adult crab grass.

Hole 7

That Green Mold is a Health Department Violation.

Just love the flowering trees.

It is good that they are spraying.  A little careless and inconsistent in how they are spraying.

Damage on the green that is not healing.

Cutting a fringe.  Fertilizer starved.

This landscape area needs the sedge sprayed.

That is it from Chula Vista.
